A Picture of Our Torn Up Praise - Phosphorescent // Pride (2007)

Matthew Houck's soothing voice alleviated my stress
produced by hours of holiday travel and instilled in me a pleasant laziness. Phosphorescent is known for Houck's sedative, languid, melodies.

-Can't get enough of this album? Check out these additional albums:
A Hundred Times or More (2008) and To Willie (2009).

Song of the Night // "Ocean" - Alexander & The Grapes

Thanks to maggie hess for showing me this one.

Sun Glitters - Mouth / Tight EP

Featuring remixes by Shigeto, Life & Limb, Twin Empire, and Blackbird Blackbird Ambient.

Foals - "My Number"

This is a single that was released off of the up incoming album "Holy Fire" which is out Feb 11th.  My predication is that this is going to be one of the biggest albums of 2013.  It may be a little bit different direction of previous Foals albums but just from the two singles I have heard off the album (Inhaler, My Number) this album is going to melt some faces.  Im just hoping they will swing by Cleveland on their tour next year.  I will most likely soil my pants upon the first listen of this album.

Album of the Day // Grimes - Visions

Clair Boucher the Vancouver native is definitely something different when it comes to the Lo-fi music scene.  Her reverb filled vocals, upbeat tempos and synth filled songs are different but fun and interesting at the least.  One can only hope that this is the future of pop music.

Album of the Night // Cyanide Sisters EP (Bonus Track Version)

Album of the Day // A.A. Bondy - When the Devil's Loose

A.A. Bondy is a folk/alternative artist reigning from Birmingham, Alabama.  On "When the Devil's Loose" and "Believers" Bondy bring a dark and soulful element to folk that cant be replicated. A.A. Bondy's third album was released in 2011 following his second album in 2009 and first in 2007.

Song of the Night: "Velour" by Darius

This is one of the most beautiful electronic songs that I have heard in awhile,  chills every time I play this.  The mix is also incredible on this song, so in other words this song thumps.  Seriously though listen to this.

Featured Artist // ALEK FIN - Mull EP

I stumbled upon this EP when I received an email
from him through soundcloud when he shared it with all of his followers.  The first track is simply incredible with the atmospheric vibes pushed out through all the tracks and ambient but sophisticated feel in the melodies.  This is will be on the top of my ambient playlist for some time.  Treat your ears and listen to this incredible EP that was released by ALEK FIN.

Youth Lagoon - "Ghost To Me"

“I just have too many things in my mind that haunt me”, Trevor Powers of Youth Lagoon responded in an interview with Fat Possum Records.  “It wasn't until I realized I was more than just music, that I was able to create music that means something to me-and that is Youth Lagoon”, Powers added.

Based out of Boise, Idaho, Trevor Powers manipulated his experiences to convey a true vulnerability in his lyrics by exposing his psychological dysphoria.

On September 27th, Fat Possum Records released,The Year of Hibernation (2011).  This album transmits a dreamy, atmospheric, sound through its experimental genre.

Nightlands - Covers - "Trouble" & "Big Louise"

Band from the record label Secretly Canadian, side project of The War On Drugs.  Love the bluesy pop feel of their songs.

Album of the Day // Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. - It's A Corporate World

Dale Earnhardt Jr Jr has been one of my favorite bands for quite some time because of their different live setups, hilarious "Merica" apparel and their out of the box music that they have pushed out for the last 3 years.  The Detroit natives Joshua Epstein and Daniel Zott create a style that is "danceable without sacrificing anything in the songwriting department".  With their synthy vibes and reverb filled melodies they have been creating a style that has been attempted by many but not pulled off by others.  You can see some of their songs on this album like "Nothing But Our Love" "Vocal Chords" and "Simple Girl" on their older EP Horse Power.  Enjoy!

VIDEO OF THE WEEK // A Take Away Show // J. Tillman - "First Born"

A Take Away Show (LaBlogotheque) has some of the best live performances by artists including Fleet Foxes, Bon Iver, Arcade Fire, Grizzly Bear, Sufjan Stevens, Andrew Bird and many others.  I would really recommend checking them out.  Most of the videos are 4 or 5 years old so are from the beginnings of these artists huge futures.

SONG OF THE NIGHT // "Gamble" - TOKiMONSTA

ALBUM OF THE WEEK (I couldn't wait till friday) // Hammock - Departure Songs

I fell in love with hammock when I listened to their album Kinetic for the first time.  They could be thrown in the same genre as Sigur Ròs or Explosions in the Sky but they are from the generic instrumental ambient band.  Hammock brings textures and emotions that cant be compared with any other band. They're music is simply beautiful and imaginative.  Hope you enjoy this beautiful piece of music creation. I would recommend throwing in some ear buds while your in bed and closing your eyes and see where it takes you.

SONG OF THE DAY (Electronic) // "84' Dreamin" Com Truise

I love the triplet feel right of the start and then it being mixed in a cocktail with a straight 2-4 beat.  Simple but sick!

INTO THE WILD SOUNDTRACK // Eddie Vedder

Into the Wild is one of my favorite movies and I don't think the movie would have the same punch that it has without Eddie Vedder's addition to this film.  Eddie Vedder throws another emotional aspect to this film and the best example the "The Wolf" scene.  Love this movie, love this soundtrack.
